We are Family!!

For several months, my parents have expressed an interest to check out Glen Rose, where Trae is from, and Stone Mountain Ranch (where Sharon and Milton live). So, with wedding-talk on everyone's mind and lots of excitement and good food (Thank you, Sharon!)- we had a great time merging families and telling great stories last weekend.
My parents and Grandma Jeanne made the trip from San Antonio on Saturday afternoon. My parents were in awe of the beautiful land Trae grew up on and were eager to see more of it! So with a few hours before dinner, we loaded my city slicker parents & Gma Jeanne into the Kubota (OH, how I wish I had pictures of this!!!), Trae and I jumped on our 4-wheelers, and we led them around to experience the sights and sounds of Stone Mountain Ranch.

Sharon and Milton cooked a great family dinner and we all had a great time relaxing together and chatting up different wedding ideas and plans for our future. Trae and I are so glad to have such supporting, loving families behind us as we start our life together.

We're Engaged!!

After years of friendship, a couple years of dating and a year of co-parenting our precious 90 lb baby, Colbie.... WE'RE ENGAGED!!!

The Story:
Trae asked me to marry him at our Misty Brook casa on Friday night, August 14th. I had a rough day with allergies that day and didn't get home from the gym until close to 5- so when Trae suggested I go lay out with Jaclyn for an hour despite having planned a dinner date together ... I was skeptical... but since when did this Sun Goddess miss an opportunity to lay out?! I met Jaclyn for about an hour and got home to see Trae relaxing on the couch with Colbs, as usual. As I made my way for the kitchen to set my pool things down, Trae mentioned that he had rearranged some of the photos on the wall. "I hope you don't mind." He said.

For those of you who don't know, Trae and I spent weeks on ONE wall in our house. We picked out special pictures of friends and family, turned them black and white and matted them in frames before hanging them. The process was a long one, but a special one to us- so when he mentioned that he rearranged some of the photos...I was quick to see his changes.

I took a careful look at all the photos- everything looked the same... then as I looked past the mirror, I saw that he had framed "Will" "You" "Marry" "Me" in 4 different frames where some of our family photos had been. I looked over my shoulder to look at Trae and he was already by my side on his knee where he asked the question again, himself. My answer was the first thing that came to mind: "Of Course, Of Course!!"

The rest of our night was amazing- Trae had made a reservation at Jeffreys, where our first date was and we drank a bottle of Dom Perignon that Trae had been saving for the occasion.
Trae and I are so happy together and ready to get our married life started!!
